Mrs. Stewart's Grade Two Adventure!

 Reminders: No school for students on Friday. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we had music and played Soda Pop and used the Boom whackers. we did our UFLI switcheroo today.  we did mindful math, ask me how many I got done today. we did social studies and set up our visual journal pages for the research we will be doing on the physical regions of Canada. we played in the snow outside, it is snow much fun! we read a book called The Day the Crayons Quit....and it introduced us to a new station we will be starting next week, ask me what it is. we played Race to 100 and practced writing three digit numbers.

 Reminders: This Thursday and Friday are Parent/Teacher conferences, please book a time through MyCbe account. No school on Friday for students. Now that the snow is here and it is SNOW much fun to play in, please remember to send your child with snowpants, boots, mittens, a hat and a jacket.  It is much more comfortable to be playing in the snow when you can be warm and dry.  It is also a good idea for your child to have a spare pair of clothes in their backpack in case they do get wet and need a change of clothes.  Highlights of Grade Two Today: we did three rounds of literacy stations today, ask me which ones I did! we used playing cards to help us learn place value today, we went all the way up to the hundreds! we went to gym, we played soccer! we learned about the geographical regions of Canada, these are different then the provinces and territories! There are 7 physical regions in Canada, can you name them? we did our UFLI switcheroo today. we had mindful math ...

 Reminders: Please book your parent teacher conference through your MyCbe account if you have not yet. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we did line art today! We had to choose three landforms and draw them and then outline them with a sharpie.  Then we had to fill them in with different types and colours of lines! our buddies came to see us and we played Race to 100!!  We were practicing our place value and trading 10 ones for one ten. we read two books today and compared them while looking for Canadian landforms.  We read ABC of Canada and A is for Alberta.

Highlights of Grade Two Today: we went to music and did music sharing today! we learned a new math game called Race to 100! we learned about physical features and chose our favourite landform. we read a book of poems, some were funny and some rhymed. we did three rounds of literacy stations. we learned more about place value, ones, tens and hundreds!

Highlights of Grade Two Today: we did three rounds of literacy stations, ask me which ones I went to. we learned more about place value today - check out the bottom of the blog for the challenge! we read a story called The Smallest Girl in the Smallest Grade, ask me what change was made int eh book. we learned about the five main bodies of water, the ocean, rivers, lakes, glaciers and wetlands. we went to gym we had Word Problem Wednesday **CHALLENGE** Draw me these two numbers using tens and ones. 57 34

 Reminders: Wednesday is picture retake day.  Please email me if you would like your child to get retakes.  Pita Fun Lunch is on Thursday November 20th. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we went to music today and drew lines as we listened to music, ask me what kind of lines go with what kind of music. we did a fire drill! we finished pattern city and look forward to hearing from Mayor Artstew. we learned the fourth station - WORD GAMES!!!!!  Ask me which game I played! we did our UFLI groups today. we did mini-research projects today about specific landforms.  Ask me which one I did...the choices are Mount Yamnuska, The Prairies around Lethbridge, Bow Valley Provincial Park, The Caribou Mountain Plateau, Cypress Hills.

 Reminders: Northern Lights clothing orders are due on November 20th so if you wish to order a t-shirt or hoodie make sure you order them by November 20th.  Picture retakes are on November 19th. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we learned about 5 major landforms today.  Ask me what they are and I can describe them to you! we did a Show What You Know about patterns today! and worked on our Pattern City. we went to gym and played Fruit Salad Tag. we did literacy stations, ask me which ones I went to. we read a book called Gary the Conjunction Guy, ask me what a conjunction is and how I can use them to make my sentences longer and more interesting.
