Thursday October 10th, 2024

Reminders:

Tomorrow we are going on a community walk and we will be doing some sketching outside so please come dressed for the weather.  It may be a bit colder because we won't be running around, so dressing in layers is a good idea (shirt, sweater and coat).  We are going out around 11:30am.

There is no school on Monday October 14th for Thanksgiving Day.  School will resume on Tuesday October 15th.

IMPORTANT | Help Still Needed on October 19 or October 20

Next weekend on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 are the dates we were given for our Casino Fundraiser.

We still have five spots that are not filled.

If we cannot fill all volunteer slots, the Casino cancels our fundraiser and we are not permitted to apply for another 18 months…which would put us to another three years before another opportunity arises.

With this opportunity giving us over $70 000, it is critical that we fill the spots so we get the money!

If you, or your family / friends, are able to help, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

We still need help with the following:

  • Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11:15 pm – 3:30 am – Count Room Volunteer
  • Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11:15 am – 7:30 pm – Chip Runner
  • Sunday, Oct. 20 from 6:45 pm – 3:30 am – Chip Runner #1
  • Sunday, Oct. 20 from 6:45 pm – 3:30 am – Chip Runner #2
  • Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11:15 pm – 3:30 am – Count Room Volunteer

Thanks for helping if you can!  We appreciate it!!!

Highlights of Grade Two Today:
  • we did Mustache Ball with garbage bins! We had a hard time listening during gym today, maybe we could have a chat at home about making sure we are listening when a teacher is talking.
  • we did Six Quick Sketches.  This was a practice run for tomorrow where we will be doing Six Quick Sketches outside when on our community walk.  Ask me what I sketched today.
  • we read a book called The Leaf Theif and learned about what happens in the fall in Alberta.
  • we read another chapter of The Wild Robot, ask me what happened when Brightbill turned Roz off.
  • we learned that we live in the Northern Hemisphere and not the Southern Hemisphere.
  • we practiced decreasing patterns using our hundreds chart and the whiteboard.  Please check below for a challenge.  Should you choose to complete this challenge and bring it into school tomorrow, it will be worth a dime.

2) Start at 76.  Minus 10 each time.
