Mrs. Stewart's Grade Two Adventure!

Reminders: Tonight is our Welcome to the New Year Open House from 4:30pm- 7:00pm.  There are food trucks and family games outside to enjoy. Come anytime you would like. No school tomorrow for a PD day. No school on Monday for Truth and Reconciliation Day We return on Tuesday October 1st. Picture day is on Thursday October 3rd. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we went out and tied our ribbons to the fence with our Grade Five buddies! Ask me what I wrote on my ribbon. we went to music today and learned some Pow Wow dances. we skip counted on our hundreds chart by 2 and 10 starting and lots of different numbers, ask me if I think this is hard or easy. we played a math game counting by 10's if 100 lands on you, you have to sit down. we read a book called Shi Shi Etko about a young girl collecting memories before she had to go off to residential school. we read another chapter of The Wild Robot. Reminders: Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day!!  Ask me about all the learning we have done about Orange Shirt day and Truth and Reconciliation.  Wear any orange you can tomorrow! Tomorrow is the Welcome to the New Year Open House! From 4:30pm - 7:00pm you can drop in and see your child's classroom, meet their teacher, get food from the food trucks and play games on the compound! There is no school on Friday for students as it is a PD Day and no school on Monday in recongnition of Truth and Reconciliation Day. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we wrote messages on orange ribbons to show how children should feel at school, to show support for all the children who had to go to residential schools and did not feel safe or loved. we had a virtual author visit today and the author read us her book "If Instead of A Person" Ask me what this book was about. we finished writing on our feathers and went and added them to the display by the Learning Commons.  You can stop by and see this dis

Reminders: Thursday September 26th is Welcome to the New Year Meet the Teacher Open House! It is from 4:30pm - 7:00pm and you can drop by at anytime! There will be food trucks set up as well!!! We are excited to see everyone! Thursday September 26th is Orange Shirt Day.  We have been learning about Truth and Reconciliation and Indigenous Residential Schools and will wear orange to show our support on this day. No school on Friday September 27th for students as it is a PD day.   No school on Monday September 30th for Truth and Reconciliation Day Highlights of Grade Two Today: we went on our community walk today after snack.  We did amazing on our walk and saw where Coventry Hills School is! we did art today and we created our own unique eagle feathers! We used watercolour pencils to decorate them in many different colours and then painted over them with water! Thursday is Meet the Teacher Open House night! Come on by and meet the teacher, see where your child goes every day and enjoy the food trucks! Come anytime from 4:30pm - 7:00pm Highlights of Grade Two Today: we did skip counting on our hundreds chart using counters.  We counted by 2 and 10 starting at many different numbers. we read the book The Suitcase.  It talked about a child who went away to a residential school and had her suitcase taken away.  We made our own suitcases and will fill them tomorrow. we went to music and learned about flutes! We had a substitute teacher for music today we read another chapter of The Wild Robot, ask me about Chitchat the squirrel. we did three rounds of literacy stations today, ask me which ones I got to go to. we did mindful math today and practiced
