Reminders:
Tomorrow we are going on our community walk to Coventry Hills School.  Please come prepared for the walk! 
Thursday is Orange Shirt Day, ask your child why we wear orange shirts on this day.
Thursday is Meet the Teacher Open House night! Come on by and meet the teacher, see where your child goes every day and enjoy the food trucks! Come anytime from 4:30pm - 7:00pm


Highlights of Grade Two Today:
  • we did skip counting on our hundreds chart using counters.  We counted by 2 and 10 starting at many different numbers.
  • we read the book The Suitcase.  It talked about a child who went away to a residential school and had her suitcase taken away.  We made our own suitcases and will fill them tomorrow.
  • we went to music and learned about flutes! We had a substitute teacher for music today
  • we read another chapter of The Wild Robot, ask me about Chitchat the squirrel.
  • we did three rounds of literacy stations today, ask me which ones I got to go to.
  • we did mindful math today and practiced our basic facts, ask me how many I did today.
  • we had a fire drill today, we exited the building quickly and quietly, we are going to work on re-entering the building quietly.

Reminders: Coming up next week is our Terry Fox Run (on Thursday September 19th) Subway Fun Lunch is on Thursday September 19th. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we worked on our 'Good Egg' art today! Ask me what I drew. we did our provincial numeracy assessment today! Ask me how that went. we learned about our Word Work centre, we are practicing Heart Words and High Frequency Words (which are words we come across a lot in reading and writing) we went to music today and we got to sing a song in a circle and played a game where we woke Mo up! Ask me about this we reviewed the two sounds for the digraph 'th'.  There is voiced sound and a quiet sound. we read another chapter from The Wild Robot, ask me abou this book! we made patterns in math today, we made repeating patterns with 4 or more elements in the core! Reminders: Tomorrow we are going on a community walk and we will be doing some sketching outside so please come dressed for the weather.  It may be a bit colder because we won't be running around, so dressing in layers is a good idea (shirt, sweater and coat).  We are going out around 11:30am. There is no school on Monday October 14th for Thanksgiving Day.  School will resume on Tuesday October 15th. IMPORTANT | Help Still Needed on October 19 or October 20   Next weekend on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 are the dates we were given for our Casino Fundraiser. We still have five spots that are not filled.  If we cannot fill all volunteer slots, the Casino cancels our fundraiser and we are not permitted to apply for another 18 months…which would put us to another three years before another opportunity arises.  With this opportunity giving us over $70 000, it is critical that we fill the spots so we get the money!  If you, or your family / friends, are able to help, it wo
