Reminders:
Thursday September 26th is Welcome to the New Year Meet the Teacher Open House! It is from 4:30pm - 7:00pm and you can drop by at anytime! There will be food trucks set up as well!!! We are excited to see everyone!

Thursday September 26th is Orange Shirt Day.  We have been learning about Truth and Reconciliation and Indigenous Residential Schools and will wear orange to show our support on this day.

No school on Friday September 27th for students as it is a PD day.  

No school on Monday September 30th for Truth and Reconciliation Day

Highlights of Grade Two Today:
  • we went on our community walk today after snack.  We did amazing on our walk and saw where Coventry Hills School is!
  • we did art today and we created our own unique eagle feathers! We used watercolour pencils to decorate them in many different colours and then painted over them with water! Ask me some of the things eagle feathers symbolize.
  • we read the story "The Eagle Feather" 
  • we finished our suticase pockets and filled them with many different things.  Ask me what I put in my suitcase.
  • we went to gym and learned how to properly underhand throw, ask me to show you the three step process for throwing underhand.  We played the fishing game to practice.
  • we had some calming, nature time after our community walk. We had to sit still and listen, look and feel nature.  Ask me how long we sat for.....it was VERY hard for some of us. (hint: it was less than 10 minutes, and we were VERY distracted by a wandering kitty :) ) 
  • we did Mindful Math Basic Facts.  Ask me how many I got done.
  • we read The Orange Shirt Story.

Reminders: Coming up next week is our Terry Fox Run (on Thursday September 19th) Subway Fun Lunch is on Thursday September 19th. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we worked on our 'Good Egg' art today! Ask me what I drew. we did our provincial numeracy assessment today! Ask me how that went. we learned about our Word Work centre, we are practicing Heart Words and High Frequency Words (which are words we come across a lot in reading and writing) we went to music today and we got to sing a song in a circle and played a game where we woke Mo up! Ask me about this we reviewed the two sounds for the digraph 'th'.  There is voiced sound and a quiet sound. we read another chapter from The Wild Robot, ask me abou this book! we made patterns in math today, we made repeating patterns with 4 or more elements in the core! Reminders: Tomorrow we are going on a community walk and we will be doing some sketching outside so please come dressed for the weather.  It may be a bit colder because we won't be running around, so dressing in layers is a good idea (shirt, sweater and coat).  We are going out around 11:30am. There is no school on Monday October 14th for Thanksgiving Day.  School will resume on Tuesday October 15th. IMPORTANT | Help Still Needed on October 19 or October 20   Next weekend on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 are the dates we were given for our Casino Fundraiser. We still have five spots that are not filled.  If we cannot fill all volunteer slots, the Casino cancels our fundraiser and we are not permitted to apply for another 18 months…which would put us to another three years before another opportunity arises.  With this opportunity giving us over $70 000, it is critical that we fill the spots so we get the money!  If you, or your family / friends, are able to help, it wo
