 Reminders:

Next week we have some important events occuring in our class and I wanted to share those with you. First of all we do not have school tomorrow as it is a PD Day for Teachers.

Monday, April 27th - Mad Science 
 We will have a special In-School Field Trip with a program from Mad Science. They will complete the program "Slippery Science". In this program children will learn that science can be slippery, squashy, stretchy and slimy. Experiment with squishy putty to discover why some materials stretch and some break, see if a needle can pass through a balloon without bursting and stir up some Mad Science Slime to take home.

Tuesday, April 28th - Food Discovery Program
 Parents have already received emails and a letter regarding the program from the school. Students will be making yogurt and fruit parfaits. Please send a snack and lunch with your child on this day as they will only have a tasting, this will not be a full meal. If you have not sent both forms in please do so by Monday morning or your child will not be able to participate. If I have not contacted you, I have already received your form. 

Rain
 With the weather changing constantly I just wanted to remind you to please send extra clothing to school with your child. Our school has a lot of mud around the field and our Grade 2 doors. Please remind your child to try and not play in the mud during recess to ensure they are not bringing it into the school. Also, on days it may rain, please send a rain jacket/umbrella/boots as we go outside even in the rain.

Highlights of Grade Two Today:
  • we planned and began to write a story around a picture, ask me what the picture is and what story I wrote.
  • we did a Spellie today and this time we were able to decode all three words! 
  • we practiced the subtraction strategies base ten blocks, stacking, number line and hundreds chart, ask me which one I like the best
  • we had music
  • we had Ms. Dang with us for the afternoon

Reminders: ** I forgot to send home the yellow home folders with a parent questionaire in it.  I will send them home tomorrow. I am sorry!! ** Terry Fox run is on September 18th. In Grade Two Today We: we made name tags for our supply bins! Ask me how I coloured mine! we started working on our time capsules, we are measuring our hands, feet, height and drawing a picture and writing words to put away until the end of the year! we talked about emergency procedures and practiced walking out to our post for a fire drill.  Ask me what our post number is....hint it comes after 5. we read a book written by Lebron James called I Promise, then we made our very own Grade 2 promise and we signed it!!  Ask me what we all promised for this year....hint: it is in the picture below. we went outside for recess we learned 'walk the wall' which taught us to walk following the wall all the way around to the front of the school in case we ever find ourselves outside our door and not able to ...

 Reminders:  Tomorrow is our Terry Fox Run!!  We will be going out with our Grade Five buddies to do the run! You can still bring in Toonies for Terry if you would like to donate. Highlights of Grade Two Today: we drew a picture of Terry Fox today we did three rounds of literacy stations, ask me which ones I did we went for our library orientation! Ask me how we go to library this year and how many books we get to take out we finished our self portraits!! We can't wait for you to see them next week......and test you on who's who we watched a video about Terry Fox, it taught us that anything is possible if you work hard and don't give up we went to the gym and LTS - Last Team Standing we did Word Problem Wednesday and did a subtraction word problem!!
